Why Debridement Matters
Necrotic tissue, biofilm, and chronic granulation in a wound bed actively block healing. Removing them - back to clean, bleeding tissue margins - is the single most consistent driver of healing in chronic wounds.
How It’s Done
Office-based sharp debridement at every wound visit, escalated to operative debridement when the wound is deep, infected, or involves bone or tendon. Dr. O’Carroll selects the level of debridement based on wound depth, tissue health, and the patient’s overall status.
