Thank you for choosing Dr. Brian O'Carroll, DPM and Five Cities Foot & Ankle for your foot and ankle care. Whether you're seeing us for an acute injury, a chronic condition, or a surgical consultation, we want your first visit to feel organized and unhurried.

New patient appointments typically run 30–45 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete registration and review your benefits with our front-office team.

What to bring

  • Photo ID (driver's license or government ID)
  • Current insurance card(s) - primary and secondary if applicable
  • List of current medications, dosages, and supplements
  • Relevant prior imaging - X-rays, MRI, CT (on disc or via patient portal)
  • Surgical or medical history summary, if available
  • Referral from your primary care provider, if your insurance requires one
  • Any orthotics, braces, or supportive shoes you currently use

What to expect at your visit

Arrive 15 minutes early

Allow time for new-patient registration and benefits verification.

Comprehensive evaluation

Dr. O'Carroll will review your history, examine your foot and ankle, and order imaging if appropriate.

Diagnosis and plan

You'll leave with a clear diagnosis, treatment options explained in plain language, and next steps in writing.

Follow-up scheduling

Our staff will help you schedule any follow-up visits, imaging, or procedures before you leave.

Paperwork

To save time at check-in, you may complete new-patient paperwork at the office or request forms in advance by calling (805) 946‑1799. Our staff is available to assist by phone Monday through Friday.

Insurance & payment

We participate with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and most major PPO plans. Insurance participation can change - please verify your specific plan when scheduling. We will confirm benefits before your visit and discuss any expected out-of-pocket costs in advance.
