Why Specialized Care
Many foreign bodies (wood, glass, plastic, organic material) are radiolucent - invisible on standard X-ray. Ultrasound, performed in the office, locates them precisely. Important structures (nerves, vessels, tendons) often lie within millimeters of the foreign body, making careful, image-guided removal essential.
What to Expect
In-office removal under local anesthesia for most superficial cases; operative removal for deep or complex foreign bodies. Tetanus prophylaxis and antibiotic coverage as needed.
