Ganglion Cyst Excision

Definitive surgical removal of symptomatic ganglion cysts - including the joint or tendon-sheath stalk to minimize recurrence.

When to Excise

Symptomatic ganglia that have not responded to aspiration or that recur after aspiration. Definitive excision - including the cyst stalk back to its joint or tendon-sheath origin - has the lowest recurrence rate.

What to Expect

Done as an outpatient procedure under local or regional anesthesia. A walking boot or post-operative shoe for 1–3 weeks depending on location, then return to regular footwear and activity. Recurrence after meticulous excision is uncommon.
